Matt: really enjoyed this write up. One quibble - I believe the GOP adopted rules for the 119th Congress that allows suspension motions to be moved any day of the week - no longer just Mondays to Wednesdays.

Can you confirm?

Nope! That happened in the 117th, they actually reverted to the old rule in the 119th! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only.

Between state legislatures (specifically Washington and Oregon) and Congress, what has always struck me is that, though chambers meet for less time each day, more is done by the state chambers, and members actually show up. Congress would probably be better if meeting times were shorter each day, but there would be more focus on legislative business during that time, as we see in state legislatures.

This is fantastic. Might be worth noting when the default of 5 minutes for voting is turned off and vote time allocated is 2 minutes

Will you be authoring something similar for the Senate? The days aren’t nearly as cut and dry but maybe about the legislative vs executive calendar processes?
